So I thought, why not?

I made my App free for 48 hours and they promoted it. The first day I had 250 downloads and the next day a whopping 30,000. My Flurry statistics went mental, with 68,000 sessions in one day.

Obviously I don’t make a bean, but it means that a lot more people are now playing with my app and hopefully spreading the word. I have had a few more reviews already, which have mainly been positive – apart from the ones who wish I had translated it for their language – which is fair enough.

It was a great evening, in a really amazing offices. Hats of to teacher Dawn Hallybone for speaking so inspirationally about using Wii games in her classroom. Brilliant speaker and inspiring content.

I even went down their slide and coloured in a little owl on their colouring wall. Fun times.

The speakers were talking about whether you can make a living from developing children’s apps. I was really nervous about speaking as I haven’t really done any public speaking, but it went well. A journalist from the Guardian was charing the discussion afterwards and wrote an excellent piece outlining what was discussed.

“Timmy Tickle is a bright orange octopus and he was an absolute hit with both Mr Five and Mr Three. The easy to follow storybook format with interactive animation was a nice mix of reading, following instructions and small problem solving skills… It’s not the most educational of apps but what it lacks in learning, it makes up for in cute illustrations and entertainment value.”

This is the first time a review for Timmy has made it into a newspaper and seeing Timmy snuggling in between Disney and Marvel was amazing.
